Economic Powerhouse
Frankfurt is the economic powerhouse of the region. The city has achieved a prominent position as the most important telecommunications node in Germany and as a European center for internet connections and services. Several thousand miles of fiber optic cables run through the city. Companies based here have easy access to the infrastructure they need to navigate the globally interconnected world of business successfully. Frankfurt is international. People from more than 180 countries live and work in Frankfurt. About 20% of all resident companies come from abroad. They enrich the city with their expertise and their cultural influences and contribute to an international living and working environment. Notwithstanding all its diversity, the city has remained a manageable metropolis, easy to navigate for newcomers and easy to make a home of.
Quality of Living & Sustainability
Frankfurt has one of the highest ratings in quality of living worldwide. Frankfurt is ranked place 7 in the international city comparison of Mercer’s “Quality of Living Index 2019“. In The Economist Intelligence Unit’s “Global Livability Index 2018” Frankfurt is in 12th place worldwide, making it the most liveable city in Germany and number 4 in Europe.

The Save City Index 2019 is a report from The Economist Intelligence Unit, ranks 60 cities across 49 indicators. Frankfurt holds worldwide place 16 in overall security. Frankfurt ranks 21st in digital security, 14th in personal security, 6th worldwide in infrastructure and health, and 3rd in Europe.
