Sebastian Blum is a certified salesman with a degree in communication design from the University of Darmstadt. In his diploma, he developed an online portal for simplified club formation. In addition to his work in various agencies and offices, he founded and established the film festival in Oberursel with friends to support the creative new generation in the region. With KAORA, he and Simon Schaffrath made their dream of a small workshop for holistic and sustainable design come true in Frankfurt’s Höchst district. In his work, he always tries to explore new media and pays attention to the balance between traditional and modern techniques.
For me Frankfurt is …
… colourful, but still a blank sheet.
What do you love most about your job?
The variety and the creative process. Due to jobs that I didn’t enjoy that much, I appreciate my work everyday!
Where do you get your ideas from?
From red wine? No, the best ideas I get from the classic way of using pen and paper, or from a good conversation.
My lunch break …
… is a well-planned move by the coffee industry!
What trends do you think we will see this year?
If you find a gap to see through among all the Pokémon Go players, I’d say there’s a slight tendency to go back to hobbyism. More and more often, people take the time to look at a picture, a book or text.
What else can we still learn?
To give things more time respectively to schedule them in a proper way. This applies to many things in the private space, but also to certain aspects of the creative process.
You should definitely do that in Frankfurt …
… walk very slowly to the escalator. Fun for the whole family … and stressed bankers!
